Charles Dandridge Pittman III (Chase)
May 1, 1985 to October 21, 2020
Winston Churchill said – “We make a living by what we get, but… we make a life by what we give.”
Chase left his beloved California and returned to the smaller surf of Virginia Beach at his sister’s beckoning. She had started Loan Modification Department for the law firm but was ready to go to law school. In order to help the family business, Chase agreed to come home and take over the firms’ Department of Distress Relief. (DODR) Like so many firms in 2008, especially real estate transaction based law firms, Pittman & Assoc., PC was floundering in the great recession. Chase owned the challenge for his family and for the good of his community. In just over five years running the DODR, Chase and his team helped to save people from losing their homes. During the worst of the recession, Chase had a profound impact on hundreds of people. He poured his heart and soul to intervene for homeowners against big banks. He helped them to transition with dignity and WITHOUT MAJOR ONGOING DEBT into homes they could afford. In the process, with many lawfirms shrinking or failing, Pittman Law began to prosper and grow. Chase brought in a brilliant young associate to the firm named Hunter Hanger. He brought in and trained Paul Scarborough, his own replacement! He helped to create or save half a dozen jobs! By the time the firm was stable and secure, Chase had set aside a nest egg, he went on to the next chapter – making people happy with excellent food and beverages and founded BottleCraft and then the Pink Dinghy.
